John Russell Trudell (1939-2021) was one of southeastern Michigan’s top trumpet players for more than 60 years. He notably performed on Marvin Gaye’s album “What’s Goin’ On” and with other Motown artists. Johnny founded the Johnny Trudell Orchestra and was co-founder of the Michigan Jazz Festival. MJF misses his leadership and his swingin’ trumpet. This stage is sponsored by the donations of his many fans and friends.
